Memetic engineering is exactly that: designing an idea that will
propagate itself. The list is the main forum for members and
friends of the Church of Virus, which is still in the process
of defining itself.
This week I'm inclined to think of the mission of the list is
to create a new language (which might explain why we spend so
much time discussing definitions, meanings, words and semantics
in general :-). The new language will provide the infrastructure
for a new way of thinking (evolutionary systematics). People
adopting this new language and way of thinking will become
a new kind of animal in the process. [I think I may have been
infected by this particular meme from the writings of Gregory
Bateson. Does it sound familiar to anyone?]
