sorry sebby have to disagree. After losing a friend to a drink driver, I
find the concept of knowingly taking any substance which will impair your
ability to react then driving an irresponsible and selfish attitude. Perhaps
it is that in the UK drink driving considerably more frowned upon than
anywhere else in the world, I dont know. WHat I do know is that it is a
negative stigma in Britain to admit to ever drinking and driving.
However, my friend John, a biker, was killed when he was hit by a car. THe
driver was over twice the legal limit, and simply driving too fast. Perhaps
if he was sober the accident would not have happened, but the point is
moot...we will never know whether it could have been prevented.
It is an interesting memeset though...the law of not drinking and driving is
sensible, but do people obey because they dont want to break the law, or do
they obey because they dont want to impair themselves? I wont do it for the
latter reason (and I much prefer marijuana to alcohol and no i dont smoke
and drive), but I know others who will have 2 pints of stella because they
know they will be "just under the limit".
Anyway, Im not one to judge, but I would appeal to all to be careful with
driving on any substance as lives can be changed in a split second. Just
because you havent been caught doesnt mean you arent dangerous!

full spectrum. i have a very mild reaction and since i usually drink the
same thing over and over, my behavior is even more stable and judgement
pure. what i lose in physical capacity, i more than make up for in
increased caution. i know people that would try to fly a helicopter if
given a few drinks, i am not one of these by any stretch of the imagination.
go to a MADD meeting, i have...listen to the stories, they arent normal
people that do the things mentioned. but the blanket assumption is that
"anyone drunk is a crazed murderer in a car" far from true. although i am
a stellar driver, you'd shit your pants with me sober driving in L.A....but
you'd feel nice and safe if i had a legal limit of alcohol in me. the
severe degree of criminality isnt required to elicit this reaction, a mere
2,000 $ fine would be plenty. it's such a popular bandwagon to get on, but
a very misunderstood and complex issue. pick a crime that you've gotten
away with in the past...on a regular basis...for me to say, "i have no
sympathy" is very assuming and ignorant with the sole motive being one of
the holier-than-though syndrome...iow...vindictive eagerness.

an old friend "julie" and her roommate for a few hours, on my return home a
cop did a u-turn 4blocks into my journey and hugged my ass for the next 3
full minutes...i was flat out drunk easily, but there was no reason for him
to suspect it...i think maybe my car matched something he had seen, who
knows, but in the end after keeping him on my ass for many many blocks and a
turn, he just drove off. i have never had such a fortunate b-day in my life
i think. oh, and on a side note, i managed to semi-tame a biting parrot
previously abused by someone...cost me some blood though. :D
