Ok, but remember, *you* asked. You even said "please".
I was just thinking of stuff that has already been reported here, i.e. the demolition of international treaties: International law, war law, chemical weapons, industrial polution, diminishing United Nations and other international organizations, are all replaced by the motto "we have the power".
But this had already started before Bush. Just remember the "non-war" which demolished Serbia, the economic suffocation of the United Nations until Anan was elected as general secretary, and the non-compliance of the US with treaties about international courts and chemical weapons. All this happened during Clinton's administration. This implies a continuity -- some forces beyond the political scene are at work.
It seems Bush's administration has undertaken to finish the job of rejecting and recasting all international treaties for the new status quo which has emerged: a world dominated by the corporations and supervised by the sole "superpower", USA.
Is it just another turn of the political pendulum or is it the world we are going to live in? I can't answer that now, but my guess is we will know in about two or three years from now.
Boring, isn't it? In that case, here is one more thing that I have been thinking about, which I should probably keep to myself because it is very close to a conspiracy theory. Just three hints:
1) Before the elections, Bush was talking about withdrawing the Americans from Kossovo as a step for a lower international involvement of the USA.
2) After the Twin Towers tragic incident, Bush's administration declared a permanent war on "terrorism".
3) Given the past involvement of American political and economical circles with the Taleban and the personal heritage of Bin Laden, would it be too far-fetched to think of Bin Laden as a provocateur?
If anyone finds this offensive, the best I can do is not to defend it (how could I?)
