VOTE TOMORROW! Get up a 1/2 hour early and vote before you go to work. If
you're few minutes late for work because you were doing your duty as a
citizen, your boss will understand. (And if he doesn't, let me know! I have
several reporter friends who would just love to feature him in piece for
their paper--your boss will have the chance to gain infamy, embarrass his
company, and completely ruin his career in management all in one fell
swoop!) If you just can't get up early--I hear ya'--stop on your way home
and vote. The polls are open until 8pm so I don't want to hear any excuses.
JUST VOTE!
I don't have to tell most of you that there are processes at work in
American politics these days which have had the cumulative effect of numbing
the electorate and creating a general apathy among voters. Don't let this
happen to you. Believe me, it only ENCOURAGES THEM! Really! There are
those with a vested interest in your disinterest in the political process,
those who benefit greatly when you stay home and don't vote. These are NOT
the people we want running the show! Put those bastards in their place
tomorrow.
And do more than just vote, encourage everyone else you know to vote as
well. Pester your friends, berate your co-workers, badger your family. If
there was ever a justification for the use of peer pressure, this is it.
And don't let them off the hook tomorrow either. If a co-worker didn't vote
on the way in to work, employ all the guilt techniques your mother ever
taught you to ensure he or she heads straight to the polls as soon as they
leave the office.
Remember, this time you WILL make a difference.
