But the problem with your usage, Wade, is that you
run both meanings together. We were discussing the
philosophical form of materialism, which says that
the material, objective world is all that exists.
You then try to bring the desire for material things
into that argument. You are the one who needs to
clarify your thinking, regardless of who you want to
talk to. (And I'm not sure whether you want to talk
to philosophers or not.)
