Schwarzenegger Lambasted Over Sexist Joke
25/04/2005 13:55

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has been branded a sexist
again - after mocking pre-menstrual stress during a shocking live radio
interview.

The actor-turned-politician sparked outrage last year (04) when he
called his Democrat rivals "girlie men".

And he fuelled his reputation as a misogynist last night (24APR05) when
he told outspoken DJ Howard Stern he wanted to remove the moon, to
prevent the mood swings women suffer before their monthly periods.

Schwarzenegger explained, "If we get rid of the moon, women, whose
menstrual cycles are governed by the moon, will not get PMS. They will
stop bitching and whining."

Dawn Gibson, a horrified listener of the show, complains, "He is
appealing to the lowest common denominator."

[Blunderov] Austrian humour is famously lumpen. Apparently the
Gubernator has retained, along with his accent, this particular cultural
characteristic. Most émigrés, if they change countries after the age of
about 9 years, do not loose their accents - 'language ego'. It seems
reasonable to suppose that 'language ego' would also incorporate a
particular style of humour. There has to be a Phd in there somewhere...

"Nevertheless, Austrians wear their formality with a certain easy
lightness and a major distinction between Austrian and German characters
is that the former are much more tolerant of fooling around than their
neighbours [there is a long tradition of pantomime and farce in Viennese
theatre]. Austrians have a great sense of humour that is not always
refined or subtle..."

I can't wait for his presidency - fun times ahead.

Best Regards.

Sorry folks.

This turned out to be a prank caller on Howard Stern and reported as
actually being Arnold Schwarzenegger by Joe Scarborough on MSNBC.

I watch NEITHER Howard Stern NOR Scarborough Country. Puhleeeeeze.

My old, analog style bullshit detector picked the hoax up on its trusty
back-channel and I failed to weigh all the indicators properly before
passing it on.

Sorry for passing on an unvetted story. Dog knows we get enough of that
without hearing it from fellow CoV'ers.

I'll do better next time.

....living in southern california, i can honestly say that i have YET to do
the research requisite to criticize the "governator" properly.  i know that
we inheirited a horrendous debt at the hands of the weasel-like grey
davis...so there ARE huge debts to pay...and they must come from somewhere!
the question is where are they coming from and how sound is that wisdom?  i
am not certain of the details.  i recall a brief note where arnold cut some
special ed funding...which i didnt really mind, but the other cuts im not
sure about.  have the bushies reigned him in completely?  i would be
surprised to hear this is the case considering who his wife is.  i must now
investigate the details of his recent policies and gauge their intent.
