What should happen to Kevin Sites?

According to the Free Republic website it's readers would have him drawn and quartered if given the opportunity. For those who aren't in the know, Kevin Sites was the embedded reporter whose unit saw a Marine shoot an apparently injured Iraqi insurgent.

If this is any indication of what supporters of the armed forces think and how they would react, then I fear for this country's survival. The comments, alone, are troubling. Troubling in the sense that this man, Kevin Sites, was doing what he was paid to do - report the news. If by chance, he and his cameraman, capture on video the killing of an individual, regardless of national origin, then they have an obligation to report what they see.
It is the disheartening to read the commentary of people who would capitulate to the whims of the US government in general, and the Pentagon in particular, by allowing the government to vet news stories of extreme interest, to hope that Mr. Sites be killed by insurgents, or to wish harm onto him by US Marines for reporting something that is so obviously a story that needs to be told.
Stop the insanity!

I think it was Erik who mentioned the word patsy in another post on the
subject. IMV the marine who committed this crime is WAY less blameworthy
than the men who sent him.
In battle, psychosis is commonplace. Combatants are in a primal state of
maximum fear. This fear is deliberately and systematically channelled
into aggression (aggressive-aggressive behavioural adaptation <tips hat
to Rhino>) by the authorities who find the focussing lens of hatred very
useful for the purpose.
This man was armed, trained, brainwashed and sent to do exactly what he
did. By majority vote.

...I'm having a hard time making up my mind about this issue. it seems that
'Americans' want several things at once, regardless that a few of them are
contradictory in nature.
what the public demands:
1. kill the bad guys
2. spare our soldiers lives
3. give the benefit of doubt to everyone, last of all our soldiers
4. assume everyone is innocent until they actually fire on our soldiers
...if it is well known that the actual 'enemy' frequently takes advantage of
number 3 and 4 to gain the initiative, then number 2 is seriously
undermined. it seems we want a ethical and p.c. conflict amongst very
unethical and non-p.c. combatants...if this is the case, then we should be
willing to lose many more thousands of our troops.
...every soldier out there is judge jury and executioner to some
extent...military conflicts ALWAYS result in this situation...if everyone
wanted to just play nice and fair, we would be able to resolve these
conflicts with board games or some such thing.
...i think we should pull all our troops out of the region, i disagree with
our motives, and we ARE slaughtering thousands of innocents. but for the
individual soldier, such contemplations take a back seat when confronted
with very real death facing them. i assume that the soldier didnt want to
sit and risk this guy coming to and potentially detonating a personal
explosive device or some such thing. he was probably scared out of his
mind, and would openly laugh at the notion that he should be overly
concerned with the welfare of the enemy soldiers who had been shooting to
kill just earlier. it might be hard to be empathic and generous after taking
a bullet to the face a day or so prior.
