I am not sure about Evolutionary Psychology, but I bet that Evolutionary Psychologists will be aware of the Naturalist Fallacy on this one and won't act according to their own peer-reviewed conclusions.
By the way, I have read about how apes occasionally use face-to-face positions, some of them more than others, and how Polynesians, Africans, Native American Indians had been favoring doggy-style sex (I don't know to what extent) until the Missionaries went there and showed them The Way (in theory and practice).
I wonder: When, why, and how did the missionary position get the seal of approval in the western world. Was it just an accidental result of something written in a "holy book"? Was it a reaction intended to set humans apart from animals? Any good studies about this?

....both doggie style and missionary(maybe with legs pinned back by ears)
have unique characteristics. doggie-style lends itself to a more
lustful/animalistic passion (aka fucking). whilst missionary is much more
personal and romantic/warm due to the full body contact, eye contact,
kissing etc. they each have their appropriate time and place respectively.
...i find cowgirl style(whilst loved by many women) to be slightly less than
interesting.
