Ranvir Singh from the village of Nagla Pal in Manipuri district, tied a cloth dipped in kerosene round the tail of the rodent after he caught it in a trap. He then lit the cloth, but the mouse escaped from the trap and began running all over the house, setting objects ablaze on its way. Neighbours heard Singh's shouts and called the police, but by the time they arrived the home was gutted.
