[Walter Watts] In search of the better meme.......
Assembly Required or Ready To Assemble
[rhinoceros] I'll have to figure this one out... It doesn't seem to be about my old friend, the assembler... Not about Lego pieces either... Church stuff probably...

No, rhino, unfortunately I had to do some "minor" assembly on some items this last week (lawn mower, charcoal grill, etc.), and I was struck by the ads in the newspaper. On items requiring some assembly by the purchaser, the overwhelming majority of the ads stated in small print "Assembly Required", while only about 15% stated "Ready to Assemble".
I just thought "Ready to Assemble" was the kinder, gentler way to say the same thing. Less authoritarian.
They both, however, elicit seizures in wrong-thumbed folks like me.
Waddya thunk?

[rhinoceros] Hmm... I'd probably fall for the gentler "Ready to Assemble" first, then I'd mutter some obscenity, and then I'd vote for the less gentle "Assembly Required"...
