Deer CAMs and Ghosts

A friends Deer Cam triggers on motion, uses infrared light and a little corn on the ground to attract the critters. The sequence includes first and last examples of a porcupine munching down and exiting the frame. No ATV or human track were there the next morning and it is located well off in the woods away from traffic. We are going to experiment now and see if with flashlights we can get a similar effect. The absolute dark image in the middle of the sequence is odd as well. We may need a CAM to watch the CAM. Anyone have any ideas what might cause the ghostly images ?
Cheers

A bat hunting a moth. The moth cause d the lens flare flying around the LEDs completely disoriented that the sun didn't stay at the same relative angle to it. The reason it was completely out of focus was that the moth was too close to the fixed focal length lens trying to navigate around the LEDs. The bat over the lens caused the black frame.

The indicated temperature of 32F made us dismiss the insect solution, but it is still a reasonable theory I agree. The 'kids' around the water cooler want ghost and spirits haunting evil Bambi killers though .... we point out that it is just Bambi's Mom and Dad we are after. Note worthy is that it seems the huge coyote population is beating the hunters to the deer this year. The howling all around the house even in early evening is a little alarming, but we have endless corn fields for ethanol now instead of forest. Dave the dog is staying close by these days, since he seems to understand he would make a tasty morsel, I'm guessing.

[Hermit] Do a test. go out there with a gas light and watch it for 10 minutes. I think you will see more than one insect attracted to it in that time. It takes several hard frosts (-5C or below) to eliminate the unprotected insect population and these days they tend to be replenished by insects leaving protected areas. Even at this time of the year we still see insect remains around our very low power outside lights.
