I urge anyone interested in intellectual property rights and related issues to Google the background on this situation. Like the guy says at the bottom, this should get interesting.....

Craigslist Hits Back at eBay
By Brad Stone
It’s war, then.
Two weeks after eBay sued Craigslist, the classified ad site, for violating its rights as a minority shareholder, Craigslist has countersued in California state court, alleging unfair competition, misappropriation of proprietary information and a host of other grievances.
Craigslist’s complaint details how eBay originally got its 28.4 percent minority stake in Craigslist — from a former employee — and the tension-filled relationship that ensued between the two companies. The Craigslist partners, Craig Newmark and Jim Buckmaster, were constantly fending off eBay’s entreaties to acquire the company, according to the complaint, and felt that eBay began demanding confidential information about Craigslist when it began its competing site, Kijiji.
Craigslist also charges eBay with running misleading ads on search engines that mentioned Craigslist but directed traffic to eBay properties.
The company asks the court to return eBay’s shares in Craigslist, restore any profits from the false advertising, and to award it punitive damages for eBay’s allegedly anticompetitive behavior.
This should get interesting.
