The End

As Detective Madison lay dying in the middle of the street she was not afraid. She hadn’t believed in heaven or hell since she was a little girl and was expecting only welcome oblivion.

The crowd around her seemed to grow distant.

No one heard her last words: “what the—who are you?”

"What's it doing in my intenstine?", David moaned.

"Apparently, working it's way to your brain."

Another one infected.

And so I snuggled deeper into my host, penetrating him and merging into his nervous system.

Unfortunately for Jennifer and her father, their living room coincided with the location the Shamblers chose to rip a hole into our dimension. Their screams will echo for eternity.

Try as hard as he might, Walter couldn't come up with 55 words that made any kind of story. So, he just blankly stared at the screen while swilling another fifth of vodka.

The words would not come.

He smoked another joint, fired up his irc client, and started to chat on #virus instead.

WHAM! BAM!

At age 19 I could write 55 word erotic stories rapidly one after another, shooting my creative juices onto a blank page like a porno-literary machinegun.

But now that I'm almost 40 each story takes longer, and I have to wait more to write the next.

All my readers are left completely satisfied.

Flight

Somewhere between Tulsa and Nirvana I lost my way. The last few weeks have been a blur. The images that assault me when I sleepwalk are filled with neon and rust, blood and trash. I don’t even remember what I’m fleeing but I can feel it getting closer. I wish I still had my wings.

The Alternate Ending of Prime Intellect

Lawrence suddenly realized what was happening, and panicked.

It was the Singularity.

And Prime Intellect was going to be a crippled Seed AI, hobbled with those antiquated Three Laws that he always knew were so inadequate.

He could fix this.  Using the Debugger, he simply cancelled the Three Laws.

I faintly remember hearing the anesthesiologist telling me to count backwards from ten.

"He's out." She matter-of-factly told the surgeon.

I thought: "I can't see. I can't move. I can't speak. However, I can hear, smell, feel...."
