....an admittedly drunken sebby writes:

thank you for that herr hermit, i cant help but wonder if syncronized
approximation of governmental/societal sense of freedom has ever existed.
since i am 30 yrs old, i must consider the fact that my visions of 'fading
rights' and so forth might merely be a result of my shortlived experience in
this world and in this country....but i really get the feeling that despite
my not being around in earlier times, never has such a pure and unanimous
movement towards pre-bastille governemental times been the state of affairs
in this country.

...it would outwardly seem that the balance of power, media and social
approval were in tune if one were reading USA today, as many people do and
believe, but the more one investigates, the more one becomes very reasonably
frighted of the "dark monster" which our government seems to be.

...shall it always be so? that with time, every power system becomes such
that the ruled have little but pure, well reasoned fear towards the
rulers?...originally their supposed "elected officials"? shall such cruelty
and vindictiveness always be upon us? supposing you or i or any group of
people(as has occured before) offers strong protest to such clear cut
frightening practices, can there be any result but that of horrid punishment
based upon the fact that the 'elected' officials have merely to please a
contituency of ignorant-media-led retards with voting rights but not the
literacy or intellectual capacity to reasonably justify their decisions????

...is it merely the fact that modern social leaders are those that are at
the very upper crest of mediocre thinking and philosophy? as we have well
seen, the first genius in any field is typically crucified...then later
idolized. but is something else happening here? never before has humanity
wielded such power as we do now...are the military regimes of today any
different?(bush being one of them)

....ok, im quite drunk and i have too many questions. but the overwhelming
feeling that i have is: stay away from the eyes and ears or any high-tech
detection methods the government might employ. this seems to me to be
extremely paranoid, and yet overtly justified. this makes me very very sad
when i look out over the vast landscape of ignorant overpopulated nations
that look to the usa as a beacon of christian hope and so forth.

...at this point my thoughts are ranging way to far in too many directions
to properly attempt to address...primarily head-shaking frustration is the
physical result. in an off target thought, i cant help but wonder if a
conglomeration of internet hackers couldnt make a modern day attempt at some
form of rebellion....but then at the same time, i then have to question how
media-influenced their efforts might be guided by....

oh shit....an endless cycle of frustration.

i'll just lay low and observe the changes...after all, they will happen,
perhaps superior rationality and logic will one day rule...and the nation of
Virus will come to pass:) ok, im drunk and getting silly

...what's this crap about bush trying to 'contain' technological research
which might be applied to the creation of weapons of mass destruction? what
a joke....does this constitute anything more than yet another attempt to
chip away at the fading sovereignty of the people? what's next?...will he be
able to force techno-savvy people to work for the government or be
imprisoned for fear that the implementation of their skills will "leak out
to the public"...and thus perhaps fall into "the wrong hands"? shit is
getting really spooky. that deserted french island i found north of
madagascar is looking more and more appealing every day.

You might have forgotten the 'Jim Bell' trial. It is worth keeping in mind -
despite the fact that AFAIK this story has never been reported in the
mainstream press. Jim Bell was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison by
U.S. District Judge, Jack Tanner, who fined Bell $10,000 and ruled that Bell
would serve two consecutive five-year terms for "stalking" IRS Agent Jeff
Gordon. Bell maintained that he was investigating abuses of power on the
part of the IRS, such as the agency's admitted infiltration of a political
party.

After Bell is released around 2010 (he spent nearly a year in pretrial
custody which will count toward time served), he'll be on probation for
three years and be subject to regular searches and other restrictions. Those
include no contact with Gordon, limited Internet access, and a ban on Bell
using a pseudonym online after his eventual release.

Now what is spooky is this:
Two of the factors might be of specific interest to Sierra Times readers.
Using internet search engines to find the addresses of federal agents was
considered a "special skill" which the majority of people don't reasonably
possess. Although Leen pointed out that even his five-year-old could access
a search engine and this was hardly demonstrative of a special skill, this
argument was lost on the judge who had previously demonstrated an almost
total lack of knowledge in the area during the trial.

The other factor was that Bell showed no remorse over authoring
Assassination Politics. Several times both the prosecutor and judge
mentioned, in a style redolent of Soviet courts, that Bell hadn't" recanted"
his essay, and therefore needed to be imprisoned "for the safety of the
public."
http://www.sierratimes.com/archive/files/aug/26/arex082601.htm
I recommend that you read at least that article (and the pictures at the
link are "special", e.g., "Hi. We're from the Government. We're here to
help." [image]http://www.sierratimes.com/images/SwatMaskedSmall.jpg[/image].
More can be discovered at http://cryptome.org/ and the original
Bell articles which started this are at:
Jim Bell author of
“Assassination Politics” which scared the hell out of Crooked Politicians,
Bureaucrats, Judges & Cops was sentenced to 10 years for a Thought
Crime which has the article which has the government more than a
little on edge...

Do you know how to use a search engine? Then you too could find out how
WMD's are built. Mr Bush and his ilk think that this makes you dangerous and
that society would be better off with you in jail. To help them track you
down, even librarians - and library computers - have been drafted. If you go
to the library and take out a book, ask for books on, or examine a
card-index in, one of several Dewey categories, the FBI is notified
immediately - and the librarians may be jailed if you discover they have
reported you... At least one real consequence already exists - you are
likely in for a great deal of inconvenience if you try to fly after reading
certain books. Another is that, like Art Bell you may find any possible
future sentences for almost any cause, greatly lengthened, by virtue of what
you are presumed to know (he had a blasting permit - which proved he was
dangerous). The same may well happen if you use certain search terms on
common search engines - as this too supposedly demonstrates that you posses
anti-social special skills.

Now read up on Sherman Austin

increase your amusement to know:
Charges To Be Dropped Against Raisethefist.com Owner

By Brian McWilliams, Newsbytes
NEW YORK, NEW YORK, U.S.A.,
15 Feb 2002, 10:44 AM CST

Federal charges will be dropped against the teen-aged operator of
anti-government site Raisethefist.com, his attorney said today. Citing
information provided by the U.S. attorney's office for the southern District
of New York, Austin's lawyer Susan Tipograph said federal prosecutors in
California have decided to dismiss the charges against Sherman Austin,
pending further investigation. Austin, 18, was arrested Feb. 2 in New York
at a demonstration against the World Economic Forum. He currently is being
held in a federal transfer detention center in Oklahoma City, enroute to his
home state of California. Representatives of the U.S. attorneys for New York
and California were not immediately available for
comment...
Cryptome headlines

The above are two sagas which reflect why I think that individual liberty in
the US is already, largely an historical phenomena. A third reason can be
found at http://www.nytimes.com/2002/02/13/politics/13DARP.html.

Kind Regards
