VirianDiscipline:DisciplinaryAction
There are three forms that corrective action can take. Administrative Action, Remedial Action and Disciplinary Action. The principle differences between these actions are their intent, source and duration.
Administrative action is taken to preserve the useability of the facilities of the Church Of Virus, to preserve the good name of the Church Of Virus, to maintaining the internal consistency of the Church Of Virus, to maintain civility on the boards of the Church Of Virus and to prevent harm from being done to any members of the Church Of Virus.
Administrative action is applied under two conditions:
Emergency Administrative Action may be imposed by any member of the VirianCouncil, or by any operator or administrator with the power to do so.
Emergency administrative action is taken in response to abuse of:
Emergency action may include any action, including the complete removal of access to all facilities, which the operators or administrators deem appropriate.
Emergency administrative action is always of a temporary nature, always results in the establishment of a Reconciliation Committee and ends as soon the Reconciliation Committee has had an opportunity to consider and if necessary apply appropriate corrective action.
Situational administrative action may be imposed by any member of the VirianCouncil, or by a member of a Reconciliation Committee.
Situational administrative action may be imposed on a preventive basis, in otherwords, if it can be predicted that not taking some action would likely result in a worse situation than taking action.
Situational administrative action is always for a predefined period of time, in any case not lasting more than a week, using the least intrusive techniques available and may be imposed on facilites, groups or individual Virians in order to keep the peace while other action is taken, appropriate longer term solutions are sought or action becomes unnecessary.
Remedial Action
Remedial Action is instituted by the VirianCouncil in connection with predefined "wrong actions" with predefined consequences.
Wrong actions are specified on the wiki, as are potential consequences for predefined "wrong actions".
Disciplinary Action
Disciplinary action is open ended, ceasing when the situation requiring it has been remedied. Most usually it is applied in consultation with an offender by the reconciliation comittee and ending only after an acknowledgement.
Disciplinary action always specifies the terms under which it will be deemed to be completed, in terms of clearly defined, evaluatable steps and, or periods, before the action ends.
