I have a different impression of what has been
happening to thoughtful dialogue on the list lately.
What I have seen is that you have posted such a high
volume of material that it is impossible, for me at
least, to focus and analyze. I don't know the point
you're trying to make, or the question you're trying
to address, if all I see is that my mailbox is swamped
with repostings of others' writings. In addition,
most of these posts are unformatted, making them
unusually laboriously to read even on an individual
basis. This pattern prompts me to just delete most of
them, despite the fact that some I read were
interesting.
I would really appreciate it, and I think you might
see results you would like better, if you would:
1.) lower the volume of postings way, way, down, like
maybe to one or two a day, on the most important
topics you want to pursue,
2.) make your point or question clear at the beginning
of messages, with following material providing
support,
3.) Provide any others' writing in URL form rather
than as unformatted text,
4.) Leave blank lines between quotes and your replies.
It is a small thing, and vastly improves readability.
I hope you will seriously consider these suggestions,
as I think they would improve everyone's experience of
the discussion on the list, including your own. I,
for one, would be much more willing and able to engage
in thoughtful discussion if the information presented
were more focused.
