We would have to pin down the essense of forgiveness first, and that does not seem likely. Forgiveness with or without repent, forgiveness for a harm caused becaused of need, provocation, greed, malice, irritation, which may or may not have ceized to exist... All these cases seem to call for diferent answers to the initial question. So, my first opinion is no; neither a virtue nor a sin.
