At one point I thought this too. I came to the conclusion, partly thanks
to the Hermit, that believing the evidence of our senses cannot be
properly termed "faith" because there is no reasonable alternative.
("Faith" is defined as a belief which is held even when there is
insufficient evidence to sustain such a belief or when there is
compelling evidence to contradict it.)
Nonetheless this limitation is recognized in the cautionary concept of
"a priori".
Quantum physicists have revealed some of the limitations of human
perception. Interestingly, in spite of these limitations, it is possible
for them to infer what may lie beyond them!
The evidence of our senses has brought us this far at least, that and
the ability to reason.
