i was just wondering if you had any thought on the subject of ideology and
memetic transmission. to what extent are they similar or one subsumed within
the other? ideology is a tricky subject, and it seems to me to work on the
same principles as memetic transimission, but with a few differences--for
instance, ideology seems to make up for a lack of connection with lacan's
'big other', a stand-in, if you will, something that attempts to 'make a
connection' with the real outside of us even if we know it is just that--a
stand in. the problem, it seems, is that most people can't (or don't want
to) see where it is that ideology begins, where the gap is, exactly. anyway.
