<<Richard--A couple of questions: From my experience as a juggler, martial
artist, etc. some things (any skill) take practice and not simply
intellectual understanding. Is lateral thinking something you simply /do/
naturally or do you use any technique for practicing and programming your
mind to think laterally?>>
I constantly practice lateral thinking. You don't necessarily need
exercises, although they can be fun. Any problem may be a candidate for a
lateral approach, which generally involves questioning assumptions.
<<Also, if the act of reading a book, has limitations (for the reason
mentioned above) what makes you think that "Getting Past OK" will help
others make long term changes by finding their life purpose? --David R. >>
I wondered whether it would, and say so in the book. In the five years since
it has been in print I have been rewarded by many grateful testimonials. But
you're right that just reading a book won't do it. You have to read it, do
the intellectual exercises, then go out and live life with your new chosen
purpose. This is where the real enlightenment comes.
