a simpler (and more reliable) manifestion is the interesting "fact" that
>70% of people will choose 7 when asks for "a random number up to 10" (6
makes up most of the remainder).
(1 is obviously "out", 2,3 "too low" 4 too even, 5 "halfway", 8,9 too
high and 10 same as 1, leaving 6 and 7)
I will indulge myself in experiments for 100, 1000 and perhaps a variety
of numbers and then I can then turn the results into a pretty
probability distribution. If anyone is interested, do some yourself and
send results in (but be rigorous in method and don't let on its an
experiment)
