I'm about halfway through a book called "The Freshmen" that is essentially a
narrative of the events for the newly elected congressional representatives
elected in '92. The story is essentially how different individuals reacted
to the various pressures that make "Small government - pro business
Republicans" a myth. The Enid Waldholtz story is especially smarmy. The
book would be a good read for anyone who is interested in how political
pressures select for the govt. we have vs. the government we want.
