A UNIT of patterned behavior-- whether an atom, a
cell, a human body... anything defined according to
its "singular" function (and "singular" because of
the limits to its action as prescribed by the UNITY
of its parts working toward a particular, overall
function)-- A UNIT of patterned behavior is how we
might talk about ANYTHING which can be studied
(otherwise, how is it unified, by what aspects does
its function define a differentiation from another
unit, what does it do....). I am not humanistic.
And, I still don't understand what you would qualify
as worthy of memetic study. When we find (or
specify the limits of) a "meme"; do you think it
will have the word "meme" written on it?
