>"And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and
>brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be
tormented
>day and night for ever and ever." (Revelation 20:10 KJV)

>"And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the

The beautiful thing is that the author of these passages was a regular user
of a medicinal ergot-rye wine taken at the time by Greeks for chronic pain.
He was no doubt, in fact, probably a veritible William S. Burroughs of his
day. In fact, I have a hard time reading Revelations and NOT hearing it
inside my head in Burroughs voice. Passages like:
"And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and
talked with me, saying unto me, `Come hither, I will shew unto thee the
judgement of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters.' " (Revelation
17:1 KJV)
