I am not sure whether I've read this particular book, since Poles usually
don't operate on original titles, but I believe it is about this very well
known island, which people can't tell the difference between colours, apart
from 'dark/light'. Their language has only those two terms, but they of
course perceive colours properly.
Please note, that they cannot be really colour-blind because it would make
them blind absolutely.
As far as I know, there were some interesting experiments carried out on
those islanders. It was about proving that the language doesn't exert any
pressure on man's behavior, sensitivity and so on. In fact it is related to
the famous, linguistic discusion on how enviroment forces language to
evolve as well as men, and on the other hand: is it possible that language
can change men in terms of evolution.
Also some echoes of polemics between Wygotski and Piaget on the language
developement conceptions, can be heard in this matter
