How many people or groups over history feel that they are "ahead of their
time"? Many I am sure, and I am sure many of them would frighten me. As for
respecting people, I used to feel that there were very few people worthy of
respect, but I discovered how pompus that made me look and how wrong I was.
Since moving to Boston, i have discovered that there are many, many people
much brighter than myself, though I dont know many with more stable or
rational operating principles than I have (sad about that). After reading
the other responses to my Nuke meme question, I have to agree in part with
Dan Plante: That the issue is the lack of education and understanding on one
hand, and a strong education and application skills in the hands of India's
zealots. As I think about it, and if I were a leader of the Indian people, i
might see this as an opportunity for the future in bargaining, respect in
that region, and a stepped up place in the international arena. I do wonder
how we, as the sole remaining superpower, we look on India a few years from
now. If India can show restraint, and demonstrate that they can keep the
djini in the bottle, five years from now they will look much bigger in the
world picture.
