sincere, or if you were merely "picking nits" and being argumentative,
so from my point of view, you deserve the benefit of the doubt:
The context of the original post did not imply that the poster was under
the impression that the universe was a 3 dimensional "bubble" in 4 or
more spatial dimensions, so the retort was consistent with the original
context of the query, using the idealized /surface/ of the planet to
provide illumination by counter-point. The attempt was to show that the
question betrayed assumptions that were incorrect.
Point yourself east and start walking. When do you get to the edge of
the world? You don't, obviously.
What's three feet North of the North pole? Non-sequiteur.
