I would actually be willing to do that... there are probably many many gems
to be found! However, for the summer I only have a dial-in connection (at
$.075/hour), and I'm not willing to wait, or to pay. If someone would
remind me come september, I could start. If I did a hundred messages a
day, it would only take me 120+ days... not bad.

Before I start on such a project, however, I think we should work up a good
frame work for what we want as a rating. For instance, I think some kind
of "relevance" rating would be valuable -- to indentify those posts which
could be termed "orthdox" virus. (actually, I prefer the term "orthoprax",
which means "right actions", as opposed to "orthodox", which means "right
beliefs") Then, an overall quality rating would be good. And, of course,
the final result would be a web page linking to, say, the best 100 posts
ever...

I think another thing I could do would be to identify those posts which can
be deleted from the archive -- i.e. all those posts saying "take me
off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!", or all those total quotations of the Virus Digest with
"go away!!" on the bottom.

If anyone can think of other things we should rate, I'm all ears. As well,
should the ratings be A, B, and C's, or out of five? out of ten? Some new
scheme, based on "memetic badges of merit"?
