Thanks for the recommendation, L---. _Darwin's Dangerous Idea_ is on my
to-read list, but I haven't gotten to it yet. I love Dennett's book
_Consciousness Explained_. If you liked _Darwin's Dangerous Idea_, you
would probably really like Stephen Jay Gould's books of essays on natural
history and evolution, starting with the book _The Panda's Thumb_. They're
a lot of fun, and very interesting stuff. You might also be interested in
some of the other books in the Church of Virus reading list at
www.lucifer.com/virus/books/ . I'd particularly recommend _Virus of the
Mind_ (an introduction to memetics by our own Richard Brodie) and _Godel,
Escher, Bach_ (an exploration of various aspects of pattern as found in
art, music, and mathematics, by Douglas Hofstadter).
