I think the next question that needs to be answered in a mathematical study
of memes is where exactly they fit in. Are meme's functions? Are meme's
the vectors that functions map around? Are meme's subspaces of these
vectors?
I'm leaning more towards functions myself -- I simply cannot see how a meme
can *do* anything if we define it as any of the vectors.
Another possibility is to redefine the vector space of your mind -- you
know the final area, where you *act* on your ideas. (Prof Tim called this
set A{m}, I'll abide by that convention here). Is it possible that this
vector space actually transforms vectors into functions? (i.e. when fA
maps a vector from I{m} into A{m}, it stops being a vector and becomes a
function itself!)
It's my theory that a meme is best represented in linear algebra as a
function which operates on a subspace, causing that subspace of A{m} (which
contains the replication meme, as well as it's related meme-complex) to be
mapped from A{m} to I{n} (n is the new host). The really good meme's might
also be able to place some vectors straight into A{n}, as well as being
able to place large Rx values on the vectors it implants, and hopefully
inspiring large Vx values in the new host.
