List,
My guess is that any single meme has a vector of zero and that any grouping
of memes (a complex) have a vector of one; which would return the function
"zero" only in the case of the set value (that is if it is the individual
meme which is being evaluated) such that the sub-space idea is required to
study the vector. Further, this would show why the null must be set to one
rather than zero as the value for the meme becomes the null *set* value (and
that value is zero), while the value for the subspace (or vector set) shows
a 100% correlation between two memes within the vector or subspace (one
equals zero?!?)
The subspace vector then must act like a "symbolic object" which represents
the sum of two memes adjusted for a null of 1. The equations for symbolic
objects are already worked out in a Zalta essay at:
http://mally.stanford.edu/principia/principia.html
...rather, I think the equations for symbolic objects might apply though I
am not one whit qualified to even read them, much less translate them.
