As someone on the list said; Objective causes can look like subjective
purposes.
Crime sells papers, and advertizing time in television. As does crises and
all other sorts of mayhem. So cute puppies and gristly murder-victims are
flooding the media space.
And when Joe public gets this picture from the media he might start
believing that law and order isn't the way of the future anymore, so why
should he care. And the crime rate goes up. And more papers get sold.
Anyway thats what it's like over here.
Of course this does not absolutely elimenate the possibility of subjective
purpose. Why not get rid of the middle-man, thats god buissness practice.
