.... there is a lot of suffering in the world which
results directly from blindly following church teachings no matter how
well the priest means. For example birth control and abortion. Wouldn't
it be ironic that the starving children the priest feels compelled to
feed are the result of unintentional births by couples using the
unreliable "rhythm" method because the church says "no condoms" followed
by "no abortion". Then at the other end of the life cycle, people with
painful terminal diseases are forced to endure hell on earth because the
church says "no suicide".

That sums up pretty damn well what I've always wanted to say about the church
(and not just the Catholic one). Religion is total control, but people don't
realise it, because there are no direct threats, only the possibilities of
what might happen if you don't obey! For some reason, people involved in that
religion don't realise that this can happen to them.

Let me use a case that I heard of in Ireland to add my little piece to this:

A girl (around 14, or 15) gets raped by a much older man. And guess what the
church says: "Tough shit little girl, you're still not having an abortion"!
To tell you the truth, it makes me sick! I guess that at least they stuck to
their principles, but the principles are ridiculous. The church must be
opposed, or this will happen again and again and again....
