Was that dictionary the Oxford? [The 30-volume monstrosity. Border's,
in the Kansas City, Kansas, area, sells it. Compressed versions are
only 3 volumes, but are sold with the mandatory magnifying glass, since
they use the type labeled 26 on near-sight testing eyecharts.]

Once I know "meliorism" is a word, I don't think you invented "melioristic".
