I have been lurking on and off these last two weeks and have lost track of
who wrote what-- I am with out a computer at the moment :(

>>> Much lesbian imagery in advertising is utilized in ads directed at women.
>>> Pick up an issue of Cosmo or one of it's myriad competitors and you'll

I think it is important to note that what you refer to as lesbian imagery is
not actually lesbian, because it is intended for a primarily straight
audience. It is not lesbian imagery intended for lesbians, speaking from a
lesbian point of view.

>>>I don't know what to make of this phenomenon.

I think it is a popular advertising meme that exploits current interest in
seeing women in strong and or independent roles but inserts the shock value
and titilation of lesbianism. It only works on straight audiences because
lesbians don't really find it shocking.

This was also followed by a discussionof monogamy and a possible explanation
of gernetic influence.

I wonder if monogamy is actually more culturally informed than genetic.

Many cultures practice polygamy. There are many references to polygamy in
the old testament-- I don't see it as a hinderance to the propogation of the
genes.
