Thank you, Marc, for your kind words. I think we all also owe Dennett a
debt of gratitude for clarifying all our abilities to respond to the
religious arguements, namely that once they involve the authority of holy
scripture and faith, we can only walk away; we aren't speaking the same
language.

My essay was, however, an effort to balance what I have seen is the
dominance of irrationality in many of the newsgroups I have been
monitoring. It was posted in the newsgroups as well as with the Virus
listserve, where it was just intended to provide new perspective for
fellow rational spirits. Your point about thought experiments was a good
one, but it is a point to be made with care, for they can be easily
misunderstood by those seeking to do so.
