Richard,
You may have an idealistic understanding of faith -- one which meshs
perfectly with our definition of phaith. Both KMO and I are aware
that not all people have such a pleasant definition of faith -- that,
indeed, many people have a faith which is almost entirely dogmatism
(and from that they often derive fanaticism and intolerance, not to
mention persecution). Those people are clearly misguided, and I for
one would like to think that our use of phaith instead of faith might
help them to realize their mistake, as well as helping us to clearly
communicate with each other (which was the purpose I began this whole
discussion, oh so many months ago, with).
