I was going to take the superb suggestion, "Ignore 'em" regarding "The Kingdom of God is at hand," when a [entity which you do not believe exists] [sent an illusion] that indicated that I should [spread more lies].
In addition to "the Kingdom of God is at hand," key passages include:
"Not of this world"
"Of my Father, in Heaven."
Just to clarify.
I don't remember who sent the *rather unique* passage with the "begotten" reference. In any case, this is for you.
I don't appreciate that one bit. If you had a religion, I'd go seek out some anthropological findings to offend you, although I shouldn't be motivated in such ways. That's not to say that we weren't alternating between embarrassed glances, angry growls and uncontrollable laughter, it's just impolite. I've been impolite as well, but I'm at least trying… most of the time.
Fair?
Last time I checked the web page, there were multiple mailing lists. I've seen you discussing various religions, and since I happen to see a little bit of truth in one that happens to be fairly common, you say that you've heard it all before, and refuse to listen. On several occasions, I've given you a straight question, and you immediately try to distract us by quibbling over what you believe to be historical inaccuracies. I'm studying to be a psychologist. I can see denial, I can see fear. Both are written all over the tactics of some members. Even if I could prove some of this, 100%, you'd never answer. Again, I wasn't there, neither were you.
Someone said that only one gospel said something about a gaurd and a seal? May I use logic a moment? Let's say I'm writing a gospel. I've spent three years with this guy, who I think is great, heck, He's God! (In the eyes of the writers) Now, He dies. I'm depressed, confused, scared. He rises from the dead, I'm euphoric, confused and perhaps not as aware of events as usual. All I care about is: HE'S ALIVE! Maybe I'm not going to notice a few details about some guy in a Roman uniform.
Again, I wasn't there, neither are you, but a shadow of a doubt isn't going to obscure something that, if false, too many people would've objected to at the time.
I could go on and on about the Hermit's disproof paper, but I don't want to bore you. I still haven't looked up the "We are Gods" passage, but I'm really looking forward to it. That's the kind of stuff that will keep us interested, it's bound to be very amusing.
