Alright,

I have purposefully avoided looking this one up on the internet for a while before I start talking about this here since we as a church have had at least one of our membership suffer brutally at the hands of this crazed cult . . . actually endured a hostage/incarceration event through the legally corrupt actions of these terrorists.

Now I'm seeing their ads pop up in mainstream media. Mainly CNN it seems, but possibly others, I haven't been exactly making notations yet. Damn they look slick. Just a stream of consciousness words associated with images etc. Doesn't mean shit but presses all your buttons anyway. Bright shiney meaningless commercials. You are rising, falling, fleeting, enduring, masturbating . . . . well, just kidding on that last one, but I'm sure they'll add it in soon enough. So given all of that . . . has anyone in our congregation seen them? And what's your opinion? Thoughts, impressions etc.

If it had been any other religious cult, I'd have posted this thread in some topic like society and culture . . . but since the topic is Scientology and this is the Church of Virus, it goes under serious business as all such threads should in the future in my estimation.

searching, looking for something, feeling the emptiness, looking for the truth . . .

not the exact words, but something along those lines.

not the word I'd have ended the sentence with either, so somehow they are still getting blocked by my filters. But I suppose I understand its appeal.

I'm simply looking for something more embodied I suppose . . . honesty, integrity . . .  would have worked better with me, but something about the complete picture at the end just blew the top off my dogma warning system. These people are just nuts, even their best ads jobs stubbonly emanate their rancid dogma and flood my senses with the desire to run . . . away.

But then I still get a sense of slickness that rides just under the radar as usual. And had I really felt hungry I could imagine someone taking an exploratory bite . . . like a desperately dying and thirsty mariner tasting the sea water.

Pat's take on Scientology is a bit less hostile if still dismissive compared to mine. He might be on to something here. While they've been annoying and indeed terroristic. they haven't turned suicide bombers yet. Anyways, we've already got some history with them, and Pat still has the pond to protect him, it's not yet a UK thing, but if I lived there I'd be looking for their arrival  soon to theaters near you.

Scientology is serious business.  They take people, work them as slaves, take all of their money, and in return they provide what's nothing more than a meme-complex.  Were they truly interested in improving the human condition, they would offer these "life changing" ideas for free and rely more on true donations, not classroom fees.

Assuming their meme-complex was worth anything anyway.  I talked to a former scientologist that said it had helped him.  And many people I've talked to say that scientologists seem to have a particular intensity about them.  Probability a matter of them selecting the best of the best of their people for PR purposes, but that's why it looks so attractive.

The first step to destroying the organization would be to make them pay taxes once more.  The government giving up on trying to make Scientology pay taxes is practically a symbol saying that the CoS is above the law.
