Coming to US neighborhoods everywhere: Obama/Dems achieve 60 seat Senate majority, and gain the voice of a respected Republican in Commerce.

I guess I've become so jaded that the Al Bundy (from Married with Children) adage; that when to many good things happen you have to start looking over your shoulder because something really bad will happen, is starting to kick in for me, kinda sad cause I'd like to enjoy the new warmth from below.
It is such a nice change.
Cheers

LoL! Its a common reaction upon waking up from a heavy program of cynicism. I didn't say don't beware, but it still bears to notice progress whenever it happens.

Quote:CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Democratic Gov. John Lynch on Tuesday named Republican Bonnie Newman as his pick for the U.S. Senate, a selection that allows departing GOP Sen. Judd Gregg to become U.S. commerce secretary without handing his old Democratic colleagues a filibuster-proof majority. |

I was surprised. Aparently the GOP senate appointment was part of the deal Gregg made in accepting the commerce post. In any case, I don't think it will be difficult for Obama to get the necessary Republican votes for cloture in the Senate. Depending on how a particular the vote breaks, he may only need one.
