[Blunderov] I was reading this report about the hunt for the 'mastermind' of the London bombings...
<snip> According to The Sun newspaper, the man, whom it named as 33-year-old Magdi El-Nashar, was studying for a biochemistry doctorate at Leeds University and disappeared just before the attacks, it is thought to Egypt. </snip>

> According to The Sun newspaper,
I think that phrase should give you all the reassurance you could possibly want. While the story is certainly plausible, it is nonetheless difficult to mistake the Sun for a newspaper.
Incidentally, as gratifying as many of the tributes to British stoicism and tea-drinking were, I couldn't help but think there was an element of self-mythologisation to it. I certainly don't recall the Spanish reaction to the Madrid bombings being especially different; you react with stoicism because there is little alternative under those circumstances. --- To unsubscribe from the Virus list go to <http://www.lucifer.com/cgi-bin/virus-l>

I recall half a million people demonstrating on the streets of Madrid, the fall of the government, plus Spanish withdrawal from Iraq - a bit different I would say > --- > To unsubscribe from the Virus list go to <http://www.lucifer.com/cgi-bin/virus-l> > --- To unsubscribe from the Virus list go to <http://www.lucifer.com/cgi-bin/virus-l>

[Blunderov] True, The Sun is more noted for its nude photographic studies than its journalism. Nevertheless this AFP report does seem to corroborate my anxieties about that report.

"WASHINGTON (AFP) - An Egyptian wanted in connection with the London terrorist bombings studied chemical engineering at North Carolina State University in the United States, the institution said Thursday. Magdy El-Nashar, who has links to the house in the English city of Leeds where the bombs were made, spent one semester at North Carolina's chemical engineering department, said Mick Kulikowski, a university spokesman."
'By the pricking of my thumbs...'

[Blunderov] An update. I feel a little easier now. It has been worrying me for some time that bio-terror is a far more dangerous threat than nuclear weapons are.
Best Regards.

Magdi Mahmoud al-Nashar, 33, had not been seen by colleagues in Leeds since early July.
British police are searching a house in Leeds linked to Mr al-Nashar, but have not formally named him as a suspect in their investigation.
Egypt's Interior Ministry said Mr al-Nashar denied having any role in the bombings, and was in Egypt on holiday.
Mr al-Nashar had planned to return to London, according to the ministry. </snip>
