I would dearly love to go there and meet fellow transhumanists, but the cost is highway robbery and there's little more than dry presentations. They really need to learn from the techniques of all-volunteer science fiction conventions. Someday I'd like to get involved in organizing a transhumanism convention (not academic conference) for lay people who just want to meet each other and have fun.
He believed in a door. The door was the way to... to... The Door was The Way. Good. Capital letters were always the best way of dealing with things you didn't have a good answer to.
An informal grass roots Transhumanist convention is an excellent idea, but do you think you could generate the involvement you'd need to make something like that work? Especially in our area?
