Dear Mr Parrott,

I do humbly beseech your  kind attention to a business proposal I have of
mutual benefit.

I am Jonathan Davis, son of mFumweke Davis, Minister of Oil Revenue
Distribution for the Republic of Nigeria and director of the Christian All
Souls Hardware initiative a charity which provides computer parts for the
hungry children of my country.

Thanks to the munificence of the LORD OUR GOD, my father has, secured a $2
Billion budget for the acquisition of hardware for the charity.

Your esteemed hardware has captured my desire and I will be happy to
purchase your beloved computer for $10,000.

Unfortunately, I am a civil servant and even though my father will ensure
the sale is approved, it helps to soften the moral zeal and sharp eyesight
of the internal auditor in such matters.

To this effect please transfer $1,000 to my account by return.

Cheque to be sent to:

Made out to CASH  (Christian All Souls Hardware)
Address:

Christian All Souls Hardware
London Office
c/o Church of Virus London Division
c/o Jeremiah, night porter
Claridge´s
Brook Street
Mayfair
London
W1A 2JQ

Your fondest regards,

Jonathan

Subject: virus: Scam?

I have had a computer for sale for a couple of months. I placed the ad in a
local classifieds paper which also places it on the internet.

I have received several "buyers" from out of the country, the emails being
in various forms of broken English. They all say they will send a cashiers
check based on an American bank, and arrange for pick up.

First of all, I will NOT give my address that they always want, and also, I
have heard of the scam where some foreign person sends a check for too much,
you then send a refund, then *their* check bounces.

I was also wondering if these "buyers" are wanting to buy used computers for
the purpose of hacking into them to try to obtain personal info. I have not
heard of such a thing, just a thought. It would not do anyone any good since
I had a pro shop completely wipe out my hard drive and reinstall the op
system.

Just wondering if anyone had any ideas on why I keep getting these foreign
emails saying they want to buy the computer.

Steve

Nice one, Jonathan!

Hey there luxvixen,

I think this might answer your questions, so check this out -

From Chud.com:
http://chud.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64581

<snip>
The greatest ebay scam ever!
So this guy I work with told me about this and I looked it up after he told me. It's damn funny.

This guy was selling this Power Book on ebay. He starts getting a lot of bids on it and somehow realizes that someone is trying to scam him. (The whole story is much more detailed than my explaination here, but you can click HERE and download a 28 page PDF file that explains the whole thing in)

So, to make a long story short, he turns the scam around on the guy and sends him a "P-P-P-Powerbook" instead. (Pics below) The guy still has to pay the very large international shipping fees, but doesn't get the actual product. The story is all much more funny and cool when you read it, but I just wanted to share it cause it's great.
<snip>

Below are photos of the scammie's pc.   I just wonder what became of the scammer.  Here is a link for the whole story:

http://www.p-p-p-powerbook.com/

Enjoy the read,

Casey

[Blunderov] Any of the e-mails written all in caps? Be very ,very
suspicious. The Lads from Lagos have taken some quite big companies for
a ride in this manner.

See: http://www.scamorama.com/ (Informative, loads of laughs, and you
can add to the general mirth by becoming a kindly contributor to the
consternation and confusion of the Lads!)

Best Regards.
