virus: Malcolm Gladwell

I would like to suggest two books for the reading list. They are both by Malcolm Gladwell, a writer for the New Yorker.
The first is called The Tipping Point and uses the infection metaphore to describe cultural changes. The other is called Blink (The Power of Thinking Without Thinking) and describes some of the techniques used to program ourselves to be able to react correctly and quickly in a variety or situations.
Neither book ever uses the word meme, and Darwin is only mentioned in passing, but together they lay out some ideal ways of describing this thing that we talk about every six months or so.

i have read both. tipping point was his first and quite an interesting work. blink is his latest and i wasnt impressed. it is mostly a collection of his new yorker articles..which is available on his website anyways. no need to buy the book. i read nothing new in the book and consider it a waste of my money.
altho' i thoroughly enjoyed tipping point.

Oh wow I don't even bother buying books anymore. I just read whatever crap the library buys and occasionally request something from Inter Library Loan.

I still like to collect books (meaning I buy them, not steal them from the library ;-)
