Just Do It

I resolve to not have New Year's resolutions.
That's one I could possibly fulfill. Seriously folks, you don't need a resolution to do something that's good for you, something that you really want for yourself, or even those things you need to do. Just do it, and THEN smile. Much more satisfying and much less pressure. Especially on a whim, you can surprise yourself now and then - perhaps even change your life. No need to wait for New Year's Day.

I agree you don't have to wait for the new year to improve your life. However I think resolutions are an effective way of self-programming for some people because they announce their intentions to friends and family. This engages the self-esteem module to help them live up to their goals.
