It's a way of thinking:
If only I had X then I could do Y and then I'd be Z.
This is a cultural way of thinking promulgated in our society. It's not very effective in many circumstances.
Instead one might consider cultivating a “be-do-have” philosophy.
In other words: “Being Z, I would do Y and the I will have X”
I highly reccomend taking an improvisational comedy class. It works on this concept of “be first” then do, then have...
