I would argue that everything we claim to "know" is a matter of faith, absent referents (kant). True atheism itself is a matter of faith. The only tenable or "non faithful" position is to be an agnostic or a "non practicing/unsure" christian, jew, etc.
Fortunately this is the majority of people. Unfortunately, the minority are the "leaders" and the most outspoken.
As a wise Jew once said: "I've learned enough about Jesus that if he is the son of God, I should be able to argue my way into heaven."
Hehe.
