[Bill Roh] Blunderov - In response to your last question - "Could the
universe be both infinite and finite?"
[Bill Roh] If you had a trillion dollars to spend, the money would for all
intents and purposes be infinite. You would never spend it all. Can you
imagine a trillion of anything?
[ben] I could spend a trillion dollars in a month... Hmm, fascist
dictatorship, or libertarian democracy?... Remote island or one just off the
coast of a friendly superpower? what kinds of defence robots? so many
choices to make...
[Hermit] Serious answer to a joke. Ben, you couldn't do it. The very few
things that cost that much are not for sale. Think of the entire shuttle
program. It costs "only" $3.3 billion a year or 0.3% of that [refer
http://w3.access.gpo.gov/usbudget/].
[Hermit] It is completely impossible to spend that much unless you are
prepared to pay way over market price for something, and suffer the
consequences. And the consequences would almost certainly be catastrophic.
That is one tenth of the entire US GDP and putting so much money into any
economy (including the US) in the course of one month would be equivalent of
economic warfare.
Hermit.
