I must now admit, after weeks of countless e-mails from the CoV list (I
currently have 584 in my CoV folder, a good 99% having gone unread) that I
have seen an e-mail that actual pertains to my perceptions of the goals of
this list.
What ARE the guidelines and rules of acquaintances and friendships? What
directs a person to associate with others, and how are limits of such a
relationship drawn and to what extent can those limits be challenged?
Probably quite a few questions rather than a discussion and sharing of
ideas, but in this world, aren't there those that have the questions and
those that [believe they] have the answers?
Maybe it would be good to note that I have chosen to start my life over
again, to the extent that is within my powers. I still have the same Social
Security Number and the same (tarnished) credit report and a somewhat
impressive (although not spectacular) resume and list of experiences, but
this time I'm moving forward without those I have called friends,
acquaintances, and peers, in search of new individuals to interpret my life
and experiences and know the person I now perceive myself to be, not the
person history tries to make me out to be.

ps - Perhaps it might help if someone could describe, for recent joiners to
the list, how exactly to interpret the [Bill Roh] and [Mermaid] notations in
the below e-mail; is Mermaid talking to himself, relaying a message received
from Bill Roh, or have I simply flunked Human Conversation 101...
