Good stuff clipped - I liked the article from the Guardian as well, though like
yourself, i don't really endorse it. This post speaks to the East Coast and
Jesse Helmes.

When I said East Coast, I should have been more specific. In Cowboy speak (I am
from cowboy country after all), the East Coast is really only the population
centers from Washington DC on up - Mainly Washington DC, New York and Boston. I
think statistically you would find much of the USs wealth and power in these
areas. I usually think of everything south of DC as "The South" with the middle
South - Louisiana, Missouri, Tennessee and the other simarlarly located states
as the "Deep South". Jesse Helmes is from the "South" - and I think he faught
for the South in the Civil War ; ). He certainly would have.

I admit that I have no answer for the people like Jesse and their opinions.
Though I respect Hermits opinion and have no desire to irk him, I have a hard
time finding the line between negative sentiment and genuine observation.
Hermit's answer may be right on the mark in Jesse's case - I have nothing
contradictory to offer.
